All employees and partners of the Group are responsible for knowing and complying with the guidelines established here. The governance of the Sustainability theme of the ZMAX BLUE SHIP Group is managed transversally by the bodies defined below:
6.1. ESG Vice Presidency
Reporting directly to the Chairman, it plays a representative role in the ESG pillars, being primarily responsible for ensuring that these topics are considered in the Group’s strategic decisions. Furthermore, it guides the analysis of the real and potential impacts of Sustainability. It acts as a driver in the implementation of projects on the Sustainability agenda, to disseminate and support commitments with stakeholders.
6.2. Integration Committee
It is chaired by the Chairman and made up of the Group’s top management (Partners, CEOs, and Vice-Presidents), with monthly meetings. In addition to financial and new business issues, projects, and initiatives on the ESG agenda are also discussed and approved by this committee.
The Sustainability Policy is the document that underlies our commitment to sustainable development, covering the broadest dimensions of this concept, considering the assessment of risks and potential impacts, both positive and negative, of the Group’s operations, partnerships, and investments about aspects of governance, environment, human capital, business model, community, and society in general. The ZMAX BLUE SHIP Group is committed to contributing to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and, within the strategy, eight SDGs were prioritized: SDG 4, OSDG 6, SDG 7, SDG 10, SDG 12, SDG 13, SDG 14, SDG 15.
We identify the main stakeholders as those over whom we have significant influence, such as employees, partners, suppliers, the community, public bodies, and the third sector, among others. We hope all stakeholders adopt commitments and conduct similar to the Group, collaborating to promote sustainability throughout the value chain.
• Ensure compliance with the ESG agenda, within the established goals and objectives. Guiding the Group’s operations and growth strategy towards economic, social, environmental, and governance development, taking into account the impacts and externalities associated with its operations.
• Stimulate collaboration with customers, suppliers, academic institutions, organized civil society, and other stakeholders, to seek innovations for new businesses with a focus on sustainability throughout the value chain.
• Fully comply with national legislation and, when applicable, international standards, concerning quality, environment, health, and occupational safety. Promote the physical, mental, and social well-being of employees and partners, through the constant improvement of working, health, and safety conditions.
• Seek operational excellence, to constantly improve results, through continuous improvement of processes and risk management. Aiming to meet the expectations of customers, employees, the community, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Improve the business model to make it progressively more innovative, seeking solutions that positively impact the environment and the surrounding community.
• Enhance circularity by seeking to develop partnerships for new business models aimed at eco-efficient and sustainable processes.
• Ensure that the Group’s activities continually seek to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, taking into account the environmental impacts associated with operations and investment projects.
• Promote the preservation of biodiversity through the implementation of practices aimed at balancing ecosystems and encouraging research and innovation. These practices include conservation and preservation in APPs, natural heritage, and/or areas that are home to important species for biodiversity.
• Mitigate and prevent pollution, focusing efforts on reducing environmental impacts associated with water effluents, solid waste, and atmospheric emissions. This approach involves constant consideration of these elements in maintaining and improving processes and business.
• Promote the adoption of the 10 Universal Principles of the UN Global Compact, in addition to complying with other national and international commitments that establish guidelines relevant to the topic in all of the Group’s operations.
• Map in advance the adverse social impacts generated by our activities, aiming to avoid, prevent, and reduce such effects. At the same time, strengthen the positive impacts of our operations through social programs and initiatives in collaboration with public, private, and civil society institutions. This involves promoting constant, proactive, and transparent engagement with stakeholders.
• Exercise social responsibility with an emphasis on the regions in which we are present, aligned with the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda of the UN Global Compact.
• Respect and value diversity by promoting inclusive, respectful, and accessible environments.
• Promote corporate governance with a focus on ethics and transparency, through the disclosure and compliance with the Code of Conduct and Ethics and Corporate Policies among employees and other stakeholders.
8.1. Commitments and Associations
We understand that the relationship established with associations and other local and global organizations is extremely important for the ZMAX BLUE SHIP Group, enabling participation in debates and analyses about best practices and existing initiatives in the ESG area.
8.2. United Nations Global Compact
The Group is a signatory to the Principles of the UN Global Compact, which aims to align 10 universal principles in the areas of Human Rights, Labor, Environment, and Anti-Corruption in company strategies and operations.
